Momma and Baby Rabbit Updates Here

Pepper - Mini Rex Rabbit

11-18-2007 - Patrick was outside this morning feeding hay - when he observed pepper with a small stack of hay in her mouth - so she was moved into a cage in the basement - We think that she will have little ones within the next week or so.

11-21-2007 - We (Patrick & I) cleaned out cages and placed hay and a nesting box into peppers cage. We also noticed that pepper has got alot of hair in her cage that she has started to pull out of herself. We are thinking that she will have her little ones either today or tommorrow. Will keep you updated.

11-23-2007  - Pepper had 3 little babies today. There were no runts in her litter. One is black, one is a dark gray color, and her third baby looks to be a light gray color.

11-28-2007 - Pepper's little ones are doing great. The three that she has - and i must be color blind from the last entry - one of her's is dark black, the other one is light gray, and her third baby is a tan color. They are doing well and growing good.

11-29-2007 - Today while i was doing my morning feed down in the basement I actually saw pepper feeding her little babies. She was in the nesting box with them feeding them.

Chocolate - Dutch Rabbit

10-31-2007 - Chocolate was bred with Loppy (a white mini lop rabbit).

11-13-2007 - Patrick saw chocolate with bits of straw in her mouth that she was using to build a nest.

11-17-2007 - We moved chocolate into the basement in a cage that we have down there for the momma's that are due.

11-21-2007 - We cleaned out chocolate's cage today, and placed clean hay and a nesting box in there for her to get comfortable with. Will keep you updated as to when her babies arrive.

11-28-2007 - I got to see an awe inspiring site today... I saw chocolate's babies moving within her belly. Chocolate is due anyday now. We are still waiting. She has her nesting box basically ready. All she should have to do now is to pull some hair out and place it in the nesting box and then have her babies.

Honey - Netherland Dwarf Rabbit

11-17-2007 - Honey had 1 large baby; the baby was still born. The baby seemed to large for Honey to have had. Honey is a very small Netherland Dwarf rabbit, and the baby she had was very large for her. Honey was bred to a White Netherland Dwarf rabbit.

Double Stuff - Dutch Rabbit

11-6-2007 - Double Stuff had 6 little one's and they all died. This was my fault, I didn't realize that she was pregnant. She was only 5 months old, and all the rabbit books that I read said that she couldn't get pregnant until she was at least 6 months old. The babies that she had - she had 4 that looked like they would have been black and white dutchies, and 2 that looked like they may have been either all white dutchies, or a lighter colored dutch rabbits.

Princess Di - Lionhead Rabbit

11-19-2007 - Di had 5 babies. She had 4 large babies, and 1 runt. We had to place the smallest (runt) into the bottom of Di's nest for the baby to get warm. We then piled the 4 larger babies on top of the runt for him/her to get warm.

11-21-2007 - Di became a surrogate mom for another rabbits last baby. All of Di's babies look like they are doing exceptionally well, except for runt. He/she is still alive, but looks a little on the skinny side to me. Keep runt in your thoughts and prayers.

11-23-2007 - Runt did die. Sorry to say.

11-28-2007 - Some of di's babies have their eyes open. All the babies are so adorable. 4 of them are predominately black and one is gray. One so far has been named - his/her name is fat albert. he/she is the biggest one of the litter and is so adorable.

11-29-2007 - Today patrick and i got initated - We had fat albert pee on both of us. I was holding him/her and was just getting ready to hand him off to patrick when he/she pee'd on us.

Sandy - Mini Satin Rabbit

11-16-2007 - Sandy had her babies between 1:30 p.m. and 1:45 pm. She had 5 babies. One of the babies was still born.

11-18-2007 - Sandy lost 2 more of her babies. These were the smallest of the litter of 5 that she had. We moved Sandy and her last two babies up into the kitchen to keep an eye on her and the little ones.

11-20-2007 - We moved Sandy back down to the basement, today. Her two little babies are going good. (The basement is no hotter or colder than the rest of the house. There is a heating vent from the furnance right by where we have the rabbit pens set up.)

11-21-2007 - Sandy lost 1 more of her little babies. We were up late last night and check on the two little ones that she had left and one was extremely cold. When we awoke this morning the one baby was dead, and it doesn't seem as if Sandy is doing such a good job at keeping the last little one alive. So this morning when we awoke, I move this last little baby back down in the basement, and he/she was placed in the pen with di, for di to become his surrogate mom. I checked the babies of di this evening and everyone seems to be doing just fine.
